9/1/07 Congratulations to Tiffany Bianco who will be leasing one of our broodmares, Quillane Tica ("Maddie") this coming breeding season.

9/20/2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our dear Avallach's Paddy Girl today. This was a very unexpected loss to us and after the shock of losing her mother, Maggie, two weeks earlier it is devastating. Paddy's heart was damaged by the infection she developed as a foal and it was not discovered until this past week. We want to thank the cardiology staff at New Bolten Center, as well as Dr. Christina Braun for their assistance during this difficult time.

9/1/07 Congratulations to Tiffany Bianco who will be leasing Quillane Tica ("Maddie") for the next breeding season!

8/15/07 I am a little late in posting these new photos, but Dave and I went to visit Avallach's Whiskey River, also known as "Willie", today and boy does he look GREAT! Willie is owned by Anna Pavlov whom he clearly adores. It is always a wonderful feeling to see our babies in their new homes, especially when they are as loved as Willie is.

8/15/07 Whiskey has now had his first junior rider work with him! Claire Hayes (16 yrs old) has begun riding Whiskey and we hope to have them out to some shows together in the next month or so. Below are some photos taken during Claire's second ride at Kasson Ridge Farm. Thanks to "Coach D" and Jane for introducing Claire to us!!

8/18/2007 What a great day! Today Avallach's Irish Whiskey and Avallach's Shot Glass attended their very first rated horse shows at River's Edge in Bethany, CT. Both showed in Schooling Hunters with Elyse Lasser on board Shot Glass and myself on Whiskey. Whiskey was spectacular and placed 3rd and 1st over fences with terrific rounds. I was so proud of him! Shot Glass was equally as good and took in the whole show scene as if he'd done it forever. It was also very neat to see them together as they are son and sire. We are looking forward to the next show with these two beautiful ponies!

8/5/2007 Avallach’s Irish Whiskey and I attended our first hunter show (together) on August 5th at Kasson Ridge Farm in Bethlehem, CT. Whiskey started back under saddle this spring and we decided this schooling show would be a great first step together back into the world of hunter shows for the two of us. We were proud to be named Adult Beginner Champions <grin>! The best part was the show was put on to raise scholarship money for the kids of Bethlehem so not only did we have fun with great friends but it was all for a good cause. Take a look at our slide show to see the photos.

7/30/07 Dave and I visited Katie Sutton's farm today to see her foal, Gabrielle's Guardian Angel, out of our mare Quilanne Tica who is on lease to Katie. Angel is a big, strapping colt going gray with lots of bone. See photos of our visit here.

7/13/07 Avallach's Irish Whiskey attended his first ever under saddle show today at Kasson Ridge Farm in Bethlehem, CT. Whiskey was entered in the CT Dressage Association Breed Show in the Stallions & Geldings Over 4 class. Although we do not intend to show Whiskey in dressage (he really moves like a hunter!) we thought this would be a great way to get him exposed to a show environment. We were thrilled with his attitude and performance and are looking forward to starting him in the hunters this summer. Below are a few of the photos from the show.

6/19/07 Marshelle Keville of Bailiwick Ponies in CA sent us a few more photos of Bling, her yearling filly, all braided up and ready for her first in hand show!

6/10/07 Paddy Girl is four weeks old today and we are happy to report that she is happy and healthy and growing like a weed after her rough start. She was visited today by my sister and niece.

6/6/07 Marshelle Keville of Bailiwick Ponies in CA just sent us some updated photos of her Whiskey foal out of Bailiwick Easter Bunny, Bling, working in the round pen. Look at that color!

5/28/07 Happy Memorial Day and a big THANK YOU to all the troops who help to keep us free and safe! We are the proud aunt and uncle to USMC Lance Corporal Colt Szczygiel of Thomaston, CT, who was honored in today's parade. To make this somewhat pony related, here are some updated photos of our Avallach's Paddy Girl taken just this morning!

5/23/07 Congratulations to Katie Sutton on her new foal, Gabrielle's Guardian Angel, out of our mare Quillane Tica (better known as Maddie) by Whiskey's half-brother Tustin's Bandoleer.

This bay (to be gray) colt arrived around 10 PM tonight to a barn full of admirers! Katie reports that Angel is a strapping colt and a beautiful mover with a sweet attitude. We'll post updates as we receive them.

5/22/07 Update: Paddy Girl was released from the clinic today and is now happily at home with mama. We are so pleased and thankful to all the vets and support staff at New England Equine Practice in Patterson, NY! We will continue to monitor her white blood cell count and administer oral antibiotics from home.

5/19/07: After visiting Paddy Girl in the clinic this afternoon, we went to Lakeville, CT, to visit Avallach's Irish Whiskey who is back in training with Michele Edel. He is doing absolutely fantastic and looks very fit after only one month in work. Take a peek at some of the photos taken of him today here.

5/19/07 Update: Paddy Girl looks wonderful today! She is bouncing around the stall and nursing heartily. Her white blood cell count is still low so the doctors want to keep her there in case she has any sort of a relapse, but hopefully she will be coming home this week.

5/13/07 Update: Paddy Girl was admitted to New England Equine Practice, P.C. in Patterson, NY today after we noticed that she appeared to be weaker than she should be. It was determined that she was fighting some sort of infection although the doctors have not yet been able to identify the cause. We ask that you keep Paddy Girl in your thought and thank all who have sent positive healing wishes our way.

5/12/07 - At the very respectable hour of 6:00 AM Woodland's Maggie Mae foaled a beautiful bay filly by Avallach's Irish Whiskey. We have tentatively named her Avallach's Paddy Girl. She is already showing a sweet attitude and has the most adorable teardrop shaped marking on her face. This is the only foal that we are expecting this year and we are just thrilled!
