12-31-09 Congratulations to Gia Sarkis on the purchase of Avallach's Whiskey Lullaby ("Lily")! Gia trains with Tiffiany Bianco at Genesis Farm in Enfield, CT and is looking forward to showing off her new pony in the hunter ring this summer! It was very hard for us to part with this filly, who is one of my all time favorites, but we knew this would be a great opportunity for Lily to have a little girl of her own. We will be posting updates of the pair as they grow and develop into the awesome pair we know they will be!
11-16-09 We would like to welcome our new addition, Anotha Toughcookie, better known as "Elsie," to our farm this weekend. We found Elsie through CANTER New England and picked her up from Suffolk Downs this weekend. Elise is the first race TB that we have taken directly from the track and we hope to give her the winter to relax, put on some weight, and come spring she'll be retrained for a new career. We are hoping she will be the first of our racing rehab/retrain prospects. If any of you are interested in TBs I must highly recommend the fabulous people at CANTER, including Jen and Barb, who spent three hours in the rain with me on Saturday helping me find just the right horse. I would not have felt as comfortable taking one without their help. Elsie has been home for two days now and as you can see she is happily enjoying turnout and has a sweet personality.
8-08-09 Welcome home Avallach's Irish Coffee ("Latte") who just arrived back home after 3 1/2 months with trainer Lilli Beiler-Bedermann (VT). Latte's time in VT was the first she had spent off the farm and was designed to give her a first taste of life in work. Lilli put together a fabulous plan for our girl and really focused on letting Latte see work as "fun."
Latte is our large three year old filly by Avallach's Irish Whiskey out of our late foundation broodmare Woodlands Maggie Mae. She is the last foal we have from this fabulous cross. She was lightly started by Lilli and now walks, trots and canters as well as lunges.
We are very happy to see she has the same great attitude towards work as her older siblings.
Our plan is for Latte to spend the next number of months hanging out here at the farm in light, occasional work and then to continue her under saddle training more formally next year as a four year old.
Thank you to Lilli for once again doing such a wonderful and personalized training job with one of our Avallach babies!
5-25-09 What a fabulous pony Memorial Day Weekend! I had hoped to post results of Avallach's Shot Glass' show at Westbrook on Saturday but when the Children's Ponies hadn't started by 8:30 PM it was pretty much over for us. Shot schooled beautifully during the warm uo (about 12 hours earlier) but was all dressed up with no classes to enter. We'll have to wait until next time I guess.
On Sunday we took a trek to Lilli Beiler-Biedermann's farm in Waterbury Center, VT, to deliver our three year old Avallach's Irish Coffee ("Latte") who will be started under saddle over the next few months. We are so thrilled to have Lilli available to start another one of our Avallach ponies after a few years off raising her children. We'll have many updates to come on this fabulous filly.
And to top of this terrifically pony weekend Dave and I went to Stepping Stone to watch Avallach's Whiskey River ("Willie") show in his very first horse show ever! He and owner Anna Pavlov took home the blue in the hack and had three lovely over fences rounds.
Willie really has matured into a lovely pony and at only four years old looked like a pro! Congratulations Anna! You have done an amazing job with him and I see many more blues in your future!
1-31-09 Congratulations to Marshelle Keville of CA on her Whiskey daughter, Bailiwick Riverdance, winning two year end awards.
This beautiful 2006 filly out of Bailiwick Easter Bunny was awarded USEF Zone 10 Horse of the Year Res. Champion Pony Hunter Breeding 2 Year Old and USHJA Res. Champion Pony Hunter Breeding Zone 10!
We are thrilled for Marshelle and "Bling" and wish them even more success in 2009!
